About Us
Fingerprints Discovery Preschool is an Alberta licensed childcare program under Rimbey Christian School Society. The program has been operating for 15+ years inside the school building. We offer both preschool and daycare programs following our school calendar and from September to May each year. Typically, 3 certified educators carry out a daily routine that supports the development of young children age 3 to 5 years. Our program participates in the provincial Affordability Grant to support parent fees.
Our Philosophy
We believe that children are a gift from God and that they will thrive in an environment where they feel safe and respected. Our goal is to encourage their development as individuals; each created in God’s image yet wonderfully different. The program will promote this through creating an environment where children can play and explore their interests for learning and enjoyment, as well as social emotional development.

We value being a part of your child’s early experiences and an introduction to school settings. Several things influence planning for activities: the Convention on the Rights of the Child, Alberta’s Early Learning and Childcare Curriculum philosophy “Flight”, the Reggio Emilio approach, the children’s interests, and kindergarten readiness – all in a Christian environment at our school.

- Play based and center-based classroom – variety of materials & activities where children direct or invent their play, make decisions about their play, and participate through a combination of free choice time or educator lead structured activities. Activities are conducted both indoors and outdoors and with opportunities for movement.
- Exploring “teaching for transformation” framework and activities that value and celebrate Creation and the life of Jesus.
- Lots of sensory rich materials – to invite the senses of sight, sound, smell, touch, taste.
- Valuing nature and caring for our world and each other; real to life activities such as cooking and gardening.
- Presenting numeracy & literacy and various concept learning through play and playful activities.
- Promoting self advocacy and questioning to fostering respect and empathy; building positive relationships between children and educators and children and their peers.
- Intentional planning after observing children’s play to increase experiences and support learning.
