Questions & Answers

What is the Stay at Home Parent Subsidy Program?

This is a subsidy applied for and granted to families who meet the qualifications from the Alberta Children and Youth Services to help with the costs of child care. See http://www.child.alberta.ca/home/1167.cfm - child care subsidy for information or talk with us. Application forms are available from our school office.

What is early intervention?

This is a phrase referring to professional help in various avenues for children whom may have developmental delays or disabilities. We have access to resources and parent information if you have concerns about your child’s development and we can also administer special programming through Alberta Education.

What if my child has separation anxiety?

As with any anxiety, we try to use all kinds of positive strategies to resolve situations. With every child being so unique, consult with teacher any time about this topic. Parents are welcome to spend time with their child in the playschool too.

How sick is too sick for attending class?

You can ask yourself two questions:

Is my child too sick to be comfortable at playschool and/or does my child have something contagious to other children or staff?

If you answer yes or are unsure, your child may need to be at home instead of class. Minor colds that can be managed by occasional need for tissues are pretty common in the winter season and we all just carry on. Persistent coughing and a running nose are likely to spread and infect others which we would rather not have happen. Children with a fever, even medicated from home, should not attend until well again.

Can I register my child part way through school year?

Yes. Children can join any time. Fees can be pro-rated depending on your registration date. Enrol your child as you feel fits his/her well being and your family.
